PRIVACY POLICY

Flight Card is developed by Paperplane D Pty Ltd (“Paperplane”, “we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how Flight Card handles your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and have designed Flight Card to keep your operational records private and under your control. This Privacy Policy should be read alongside our Terms of Use.
Data Collection
Flight Card does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with Paperplane D Pty Ltd. All data you enter into the app — including flight details, crew names, aircraft information, and operational records — is stored on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework, and optionally synced to your personal Apple iCloud account.
We do not operate any servers that receive, process, or store your data.
iCloud Sync
Flight Card uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your data across devices signed in to the same Apple ID. iCloud sync is enabled by default and is provided to all users at no additional cost.
Your data is stored in your private iCloud container, not in any container controlled by Paperplane
We have no access to data stored in your iCloud account at any time
iCloud storage and transmission are governed by Apple’s iCloud Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Apple encrypts iCloud data in transit and at rest
If you wish to disable iCloud sync, you can do so via your device’s iCloud settings.
Third-Party Services
Flight Card uses a limited number of third-party services for specific operational features. None of these services receive personal data about you.
Weather Data (METAR/TAF)
Flight Card Pro subscribers can fetch live METAR and TAF reports from aviationweather.gov, a public service operated by the U.S. National Weather Service. When you tap “Fetch METAR/TAF”:
Only the ICAO airport codes you request are sent
No identifying information about you, your account, or your device is transmitted
aviationweather.gov is a free public API and does not require authentication
This service is governed by the U.S. National Weather Service’s terms of use.
NOTAMs
NOTAM data in Flight Card is manually entered or pasted by you. The app does not fetch NOTAMs from any third-party service in the current version.
Apple Services
Flight Card integrates with the following Apple services:
iCloud (CloudKit) for syncing your data across your devices
App Store / StoreKit for processing in-app subscription purchases
PencilKit for the in-app scratch pad feature (data stays on your device)
Apple’s handling of data through these services is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
Flight Card offers an optional Flight Card Pro subscription (Monthly or Annual) processed through Apple’s App Store. When you purchase a subscription:
Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple
We receive no payment card details, billing addresses, or other personal financial information
We receive only an anonymous transaction record from StoreKit confirming subscription status, used solely to unlock Pro features in your copy of the app
Subscription management and refund requests are handled through your Apple ID account settings or Apple Support.
Analytics and Tracking
Flight Card does not use any analytics tools, tracking software, advertising frameworks, or behavioural profiling. We do not monitor your usage of the app, collect crash reports tied to your identity, or build any user profile.
Data Security
All data stored locally on your device is protected by your device’s built-in security features, including passcode and biometric authentication
iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
We do not retain copies of your data on any server controlled by Paperplane
Your Rights and Choices
Because Paperplane does not collect or store your data, most data-protection rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised directly through your own device and your Apple ID:
Access: all your data is visible within the app
Export: PDF and CSV export are available within the app
Deletion: delete flight days, aircraft, or crew within the app, or remove the app entirely
iCloud removal: remove the app’s data from iCloud through Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage
If you have questions about data we may indirectly handle (for example, in support correspondence), contact us at the address below.
Children’s Privacy
Flight Card is designed for use by qualified aviation professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
International Users
Flight Card is operated from the Republic of South Africa. If you use the app from outside South Africa, you understand that your data is processed locally on your device and through Apple’s iCloud service in your region. No personal data is transferred to Paperplane.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app, our services, or applicable law. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Material changes will also be communicated through the app or the App Store. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
